MedSchoolSOS respects intellectual property and expects the people who use it to do the same. If you believe content on the service infringes your copyright, we want to hear about it and will act on valid complaints. This page sets out our copyright notice-and-takedown process — a notice-and-action procedure in line with EU rules (including the Digital Services Act) that also meets the expectations of the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) for US-based rights holders.
Reporting copyright infringement
To report material you believe infringes your copyright, email dmca@medschoolsos.com with a notice that includes:
- (a) identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed;
- (b) the specific location — a URL or other clear pointer — of the material on our service;
- (c) your name and contact details (email, and a postal address or phone number);
- (d) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised by you, your agent, or the law;
- (e) a statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and that you are the copyright owner or are authorised to act on the owner's behalf;
- (f) your physical or electronic signature.
A notice missing these details may delay our response, so please include them all.
What happens next
We review every notice we receive. Where a notice is valid, we may remove or disable access to the material in question, and we will let the person who provided it know what we have done and why. We may ask you for more information if a notice is unclear.
Counter-notice
If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake — for example, the material is yours, is properly licensed, or its use is otherwise lawful — you may send a counter-notice to dmca@medschoolsos.com that includes:
- identification of the removed material and the location where it appeared before removal;
- your name and contact details;
- a statement that you believe, in good faith, that the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification;
- your consent to the jurisdiction of the appropriate courts.
Where appropriate, we may restore the material after reviewing a valid counter-notice.
Repeat infringers
We may suspend or terminate the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe the copyright of others. We decide what counts as "repeat" on the facts of each case.
A note on how this applies here
Most of the content on MedSchoolSOS is written and owned by us. The notes that users create are private to their own account — they are not shared with or shown to other users. This process exists so that rights holders always have a clear, single channel to reach us if they ever have a concern.
