These Terms of Service ("Terms") are the agreement between you and MedSchoolSOS, operated by Mohamed Shembesh and Mahmoud Abdelaal, two individuals operating jointly in Hungary ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please don't use the service.
Read the disclaimer in section 4 carefully. MedSchoolSOS is study material, not medical advice, and not an official university or exam-board publication.
1. The service
MedSchoolSOS provides exam-oriented study notes, integrated practice questions, and downloadable study decks for medical students, on a per-subject subscription basis.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use the service. By using it you confirm that you are.
3. Your account
- Give accurate information and keep your login details secure.
- Your account is personal to you. Don't share it, sell access, or let others use it.
- You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us at support@medschoolsos.com if you suspect unauthorised use.
4. Educational use only — not medical advice
This is the most important part of these Terms.
- The content is study and exam-preparation material. It is not medical advice and must never be used to diagnose, treat, or make decisions about the care of any real patient.
- Medicine changes, and study notes can contain errors, omissions, or out-of-date information. Always rely on your official curriculum, your supervisors, and current authoritative clinical guidelines — not on this service.
- We make no guarantee about exam outcomes. The service is a study aid; your results depend on you.
- MedSchoolSOS is an independent, student-built resource. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an official publication of the University of Debrecen or any university, hospital, examining body, or state authority. See our Disclaimer.
5. Subscriptions, pricing, and billing
- Subscriptions are per subject, priced at $10 per subject, per month (plus any applicable taxes).
- Subscriptions renew automatically each month until you cancel. You authorise us, through our payment processor Stripe, to charge your payment method on each renewal.
- You can cancel anytime from your Account page (which opens the secure Stripe billing portal). Cancellation stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for.
- We may change pricing or the contents of a subscription. We'll give reasonable notice before a price change affects you; changes never apply retroactively to a period you've already paid for.
- Refunds and the EU right of withdrawal are covered in our Refund & Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
6. Intellectual property — ours
All notes, practice questions as compiled and presented, study decks, text, design, the MedSchoolSOS name and branding, and the software are owned by or licensed to us and are protected by law.
We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the content for your own study only, for as long as your subscription is active. You may not:
- copy, republish, redistribute, sell, sublicense, or share the content (including the Anki decks) with anyone else;
- post it publicly, or use it to build or train a competing product or dataset;
- scrape, crawl, or bulk-download the service, or circumvent any access or payment controls;
- reverse-engineer the software except to the limited extent the law allows.
Downloaded study decks are for your personal use only and remain subject to this licence even after download.
7. Your content
You keep ownership of the notes and sketches you create. You grant us only the limited licence needed to store and display that content back to you so the feature works. We don't claim your notes, and we don't make them public — they are private to your account.
You are responsible for what you put into the service, and you agree not to store unlawful or infringing material. See our Acceptable Use Policy. If you believe content on the service infringes your copyright, see our Copyright / DMCA Policy.
8. Third-party services
Payment, hosting, and infrastructure are provided by third parties (such as Stripe). Their own terms and privacy policies apply to their part of the service. We're not responsible for third-party services outside our control.
9. Availability and changes
We work to keep the service available and accurate, but we provide it on an "as available" basis. We may update, change, or remove content and features, and we may carry out maintenance that temporarily interrupts access.
10. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service and its content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose or that the content is complete, accurate, or error-free.
Nothing in this section removes or limits any right you have as a consumer that cannot be removed or limited under Hungarian or EU law.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for any clinical, academic, or other decision made in reliance on the content (see section 4), nor for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, lost profits, or lost data.
- Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
These limits do not apply to liability that cannot be excluded by law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for your mandatory statutory consumer rights.
12. Indemnity
If your misuse of the service, your breach of these Terms, or content you store causes a third-party claim against us, you agree to cover the reasonable costs we incur — to the extent the law allows this to be required of you, and only to the extent the claim results from your own acts.
13. Suspension and termination
You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms, or where we must for legal or security reasons. We'll act proportionately and, where appropriate, give notice.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we'll update the date below and take reasonable steps to let you know. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms. If you don't accept them, you can cancel and delete your account.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the law of Hungary, and disputes fall to the courts of Hungary.
If you are a consumer in the EU, you also keep the mandatory protections of the law of the country where you live, and this choice of law does not take those away. As a consumer you may also be entitled to use alternative dispute resolution — in Hungary, the territorially competent conciliation board (békéltető testület) for the operator's location. Contact us first at legal@medschoolsos.com and we'll try to resolve things directly.
16. General
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Our not enforcing a term isn't a waiver of it. These Terms (with the policies they link to) are the whole agreement between us about the service.
